Highlights of Summer Camp 2019

This year, we watched as both new and returning campers quickly formed bonds and kept us all entertained with inside jokes, friendly competitions and some serious fun.

These are just a few of the highlights of this season’s camp activities that have us already excited to see what happens next.

Creating Cool Camp Crafts

Our camp buses brought in some creative minds this year. We’ve made lanyards and rock pets and even some pottery. In fact, our arts and crafts station was stocked with all kinds of fun odds and ends that campers put together to show off their creativity.

Whether they were taking a class or just enjoying some downtime, it was exciting to see their finished projects.

Making New Besties

Our campers come from all over the world, and it’s awesome watching as kids bond with other campers that come from different backgrounds. Naturally, bunkmates tend to be the first friendships we see form, but it doesn’t take long for everyone to be like best friends.

Our camp dances and meals together give everyone a chance to come together and share stories about their latest adventures.

Engaging In Epic Water Squirter Battles

This year, it seemed as if no one was safe from the ever present water squirters. Whether the campers were engaging in a massive water squirter battle or sneaking around waiting to find an unsuspecting victim, squeals of surprise and delight were never far from our ears.

In fact, we’re pretty sure the campers stayed wet most of the time, even when they were on land.

Watching the Staff Show

The staff show is one of our favorite highlights every year. Not only does this give campers a chance to see their counselors in a new light, but it is also amazing to see the level of talent that we have here on Adventure Island.

From improv comedy, to dances, to seriously silly costumes, our campers were literally rolling on the floor with laughter at the staff’s antics. We always love this part of the season, and our staff delivered a legendary performance.

Mastering New Feats

After watching our campers literally dive into their activities, we’ve decided to call this the year of courage. Everyone seems eager to master new skills in watersports, and it is always exciting to watch one of our new campers finally pull up to a stand and hold it on their waterskis.

The courageous acts don’t just happen on the water, either. Our aerial acrobats are flying through the air as they learn how to perform complicated maneuvers on the silks, hoops and pole.

In fact, just walking around the camp feels like stepping into an amazing demonstration of athletic skills and abilities.

At the close of each season, it always feels like the summer was too short. After all, we would wakeboard and fish on the lake all year long if we could.

Yet, if making memories is what camp is all about, then we’ve definitely done it right this year, and we’ve got the photos to prove it.

Canadian Adventure Camp is a North Ontario coed sleepover summer camp for kids located on a beautiful private island in the wilderness lakes region of Temagami. Founded in 1975, it provides acclaimed programs to children from around the world!
