Senior Camp Director
F.B. (Skip) Connett is a full-time camping professional who has been leading youth in camping and outdoor activities for over 40 years.
A former long-time Director and Board member of both the Canadian and Ontario Camping Associations, he is a holder of the Award of Honour from the Canadian Camping Association, is an Honourary Life Member of the Ontario Camps Association and is a Fellow and former President of the Society of Camp Directors.
Skip is the founder and president of Canadian Adventure Camp.
Justin Gerson B.B.A. is a long time member of Canadian Adventure Camp.
His background in gymnastics originally brought him to C.A.C as a summer camper and then as a coach. After several years as Head Gymnastics Coach at Canadian Adventure Camp, Justin began working full-time for camp in 2005 and was appointed Camp Director in 2008.
He leads by example and fosters mutual respect which results in a motivated and engaged staff team. His love for working with children drew him to camping as a career, and the children remain his first priority. He is committed to building a positive relationship with each camper.
Dave Ross, Canadian Olympic Coach, has been the Trampoline Director at C.A.C. summer camp since the start of the program, over 20 years ago.
He is the pioneer of Trampoline Sports in Canada and his enthusiasm and personal abilities are unmatched in the trampoline world.
He has been the Canadian Olympic Team Coach for 4 consecutive Olympics in 2000, 2004, 2008 and most recently 2012. He is the recipient of the 2012 Canadian Coach of the year in all sports.
With all his achievements Dave is still a camper at heart!
Tom Zivic, Professor Emeritus in Sport and Recreation at York University, was one of the most successful coaches of the Canadian National Gymnastics Team for over 25 years. He enjoys international renown as a Gymnastics Coach, Teacher and Judge.
Tom is now involved in all aspects of our summer camp sports activities. He was our Gymnastics Director at C.A.C. for 22 years until his current appointment as our Sports Director.
Supporting our Camp Directors in the design and implementation of daily camp activities are a team of dynamic and very experienced Program Directors. Many of these creative and seasoned individuals started their summer camp careers with us at a tender young camper age!
Team members all receive additional specialized training in individual program components, and bring a special dedication and understanding to make camp activities such great fun!
Each counsellor lives in a cabin with their campers, even observing the same bedtime as the cabin group!
Counsellors are very carefully selected for their ability to work with children; most of them are university students or graduates and all of them have a multitude of program qualifications along with lifesaving and first aid.
All counsellors participate in our own stringent C.A.C. training programs each spring.
With a minimum hiring age of 19 years, the average age for our counselling staff is 22 years and our overall camper to staff ratio is better than three to one.
